How to Reset Xbox 360 to Factory Settings

Hello,

Factory settings would be basically formatting your XBOX 360's hard drive.

Press theGuide button on your controller, go toSettings, and selectSystem Settings.

SelectStorage orMemory.

Select the storage device that you want to rename, and then pressY on your controller.

SelectFormat. You will see the following message:

This will delete all content on this device. Do you wish to continue?

SelectYes to format the storage device.

If you are asked to enter your console serial number, do so, and then selectDone. This step helps to guard against accidental formatting.

The console serial number is located on the back of the console and behind the oval door on the front of the console.

Hello MrBrightside,

There is a way to restore your xbox to factory settings. Press the guide button located on your controller, then go to the settings. After that you want to click system settings and select storage or memory. Select your hard drive, and press Y. After selecting the format you will see this message: " This will delete all content on this device. Do you wish to continue" hit yes. You might need to enter your serial number for your xbox (having trouble locating it? This will help: support.xbox.com/.../serial-number ).  After that you should be fine. But for secruity reasons you want to double check to make sure all GT are wiped (as they should be, if not follow this guide to delete the gamertag from the console: support.xbox.com/.../profile-move-delete. Note that you will be able to recover it from a new xbox or old one at anytime).

How do I factory reset the console? I have an error code E 82 and i reset it like the old xbox 360's and it worked for about 5 minutes until I turned the console off by unplugging the power cord. then I went to power on again, it was back to the old error code E 82 again. :(
